Swarm Assault Level 44 - Yin-Yang

A rather simple level. For a quick victory, don't bother with producing any missiles.. A better and neater way to quickly finish off the enemy is this. Start production on bull ants in both ant colonies, ladybugs in the Beetle colony, snipers in both spider colonies, and ninjas in the scorpion colony. Make sure to kill off incoming attackers using bull ants to the bottom (and then ladybugs/snipers once they're ready), and snipers and ninjas to the top. As for attack, I found it most efficient to go in with an army of bull ants and ladybugs (and a couple of snipers in the middle) and take down the scorpion colony and the spider colony behind it.. Bring in more snipers and ninjas (who were sentrying till now) along with new ants and ladybugs and take over the other spider colony also. The rest is too easy,

Swarm Assault Level 18 - Spiral

A pretty lengthy level. However, the first time I played this, I took a lot longer because I did not account for how quickly the seed ball plants can grow and spread if not weeded out at the earliest.
Well, just start production on Cannons, take existing cannons and others around the spiral conquering.. post cannons and groups of bazookas from conquered ant colonies as sentries to kill off seed balls as soon as they show up.. As for killing off the bull ants, I found cannons quite effective.. 4+ cannons in a row can easily kill off bull ants from a distance (unlike bazookas whose missiles keep missing the bull ants). Once you approach the spider colony overrun by the very quick black widows, you need a huge army to overwhelm them and take over the spider colony.. Bull ants in the front row could help will killing off the black widows.. but produce bull ants only towards the last moment from the closest ant colony because they make the seed ball situation much worse.. as getting close to a seed ball plant accelerates the spread of the plant.
I had made 2-3 mass migrations of cannons from time to time around the spiral while moving the army front.. just had to make sure they were not getting killed by seed balls.. hence the sentries everywhere.. In the final attack, I used a mix of bazookas and cannons only.. though I could've probably used  ladybugs also..

Swarm Assault Level 56 - Bomber Paradise

Not a very tough level.. though we look like we are heavily outmatched.. The Reds and Yellows both have scorpion, wasp and ant colonies.. whereas us Blues have just 2 Beetle colonies. I expected the central 2 scorpions to fight it out more.. but they were both going for the neutral ant colonies that we were interested in. I didn't really have much use of cannon.. The scorpions easily brought down the ant colonies... hence, I was heavy on ladybug production on both sides.. In both instances (left & right) of ant colony explosion, I swarmed in and started collecting seeds and killed off the scorpions.. Then the scorpions attacked again.. but with ladybugs, I kept re-obtaining the ant colonies.. From time to time, I was shutting down ladybug production so my beetle colonies won't pop from the bomber attacks. Anyway, when I had a good number of ladybugs on one side where the scorpion colony health was in the reds due to bomber attacks, I swarmed in and attacked the colony and popped it.. and occupied it.. defended it.. healed it.. started production on ninjas.. Also, attacked the other scorpion colony using ladybug swarm from both sides and took over. I then collected a few ninjas and took over the neutral wasp colony.
Now, the next step was to amass an army big enough to bring down both the spider colonies together (as they were within close firing range of each other's turrets). I kept up ladybugs and bull and production.. and also ordered ninjas.. and some time later, sonics. It was a bit of a challenge keeping the valuable alive due to bomber attacks.. But once I had enough numbers, I swarmed in on one spider colony (with bull ants and ladybugs in the front as cannon fodder), then the other spider colony.. occupied both by killing off incoming wasps from below.. Then, I tried to use ninjas on the ant colony, but they couldn't find a safe attack zone.. So I created a few snipers, but they were being paralyzed by wasps.. so eventually, I swarmed in and took over the ant colonies.. The final piece was just creating more sonics and taking over the 2 wasp colonies.

Swarm Assault Level 71 - Microcosm

Fairly easy level. I started production on ladybugs and bull ants in my Red colonies, and produced couple of missiles to attack the Yellow spider colony.. after this, I switched to snipers.. I took over the spider colony.. took a while to successfully defend the new colony.. had to bring down the neighboring wasp colony several times to fend off incoming attackers.. But eventually, it stabilized.. Then I went on to conquer everything using the snipers.. Colonies are highly unstable due to frequent aerial raids.

Swarm Assault Level 70 - X

Not a tough level. We are at an advantage here (same as the Greens) as the scorpion colonies are beyond the range of safe attack for the Blues and Yellows. The Greens would quickly bring down the scorpion colony from their side.. It would be mayhem in the center; but I just kept unit production up and stocked up for my raid. I produced bazookas (may later switch to bull ants for quick seed collection in the center), ladybugs, snipers and missiles (2 spider colonies). Then, I let the missiles attack the scorpion colony from my side.. swarmed in.. used some forces to collect and others to attack other scorpion colonies and enemies.. kept acquiring the popped & re-popped colonies.. also kept bringing in reinforcements from time to time.. after a while, my scorpion colony was picking up health and stabilizing.. I had established a good presence in the center.. with all other colonies mostly down.. and briefly turning Red.. I kept the presence up.. and brought in a battalion to the top right and went after the Yellows.. After one more reinforcement, the Yellows were mine.. Then went after the Greens as the Greens were in a strong position in the South.. Finally the Blues were quite easy.

Swarm Assault Level 74 - Crater

Farily easy level. Obvious thing to do is to produce ladybugs in the beetle colony shown in the pic, and cannons in the other one (to the right). The ladybugs would defend the colony against incoming wasp attacks from the 2 blue wasp colonies to the left. I let the cannons attack the red ant colony. However, there were 2 ways the Blue vs Red fight could proceed. If the Blues take over the Red spider colony, then they become too powerful (and I just restarted as the situation seemed hopeless). Usually, the Reds pop the Blue scorpion colony. In this case, I would easily (in time) taken over the Red and and beetle colonies. I would have ladybugs also along with cannons, protecting my territory. In my latest game, I brought in a swarm of ladybugs, bull ants and cannons and easily overwhelmed the scorpion colony defense (the spear attack is pretty slow). Once I had the scorpion colony up  and running, I had ninjas for protection. I placed one cannon in safe-attack position on the spider colony with ninjas standing guard... took over the spider colony.. The rest was pure pleasure.. just keep expanding..

Swarm Assault Level 76 - Amazing!

Fairly quick level. We have 4 units.. Just need to stay alive till all the Greens are dead.. Both my bottom units got killed too soon.. I just had the cannon and ladybug.. I kept both safe enough.. Slowly cleared path and moved the cannon towards the ladybug. Then I moved them around to protect from aerial attacks and kept them alive..

Swarm Assault Level 73 - The Journey

Fairly easy level. The key is to remember this one point - there is a point where the cannon can safely attack a spider colony (in the perpendicular bisector of the 2 spider-colony-turrents). Don't give the colony as target to the cannon or it may go a bit too close.. just keep moving the cannon closer to the spider colony along the perpendicular bisector until it starts attacking the colony.. It will take quite some time to bring down the colony though with this approach. If you position very carefully, you can position 2 cannons side-by-side and both be in safe zone (but it may depend on there being no obstacles in the landscape also).
So, I marked the ninjas as Ctrl+1 and brought all my units safely down to the point in the 2nd diagram.. and I placed one cannon in safe-attack position.. only, it would start attacking the black widows first, which would quickly run at it to kill, but I had the scorpions stand guard and kill off incomings.

At a point, I was able to use both cannons for attack, thought this was not necessary. Anyway, once I got the spider colony, the game was won. The scorpion colony only produces savages (and hence no real threat). I let the colony heal, cleared up the the whole area below of neutrals using the 3 ninjas. I got couple of snipers to help with the clean up, and started producing missiles. The missiles brought down the scorpion colony, then the neutral spider colony.. The rest is just carnage on the neutrals.

Swarm Assault Level 75 - Beetles vs Ants

Fairly easy level. Out of the 4 beetle colonies, the 2 on the bottom-right were easiest to defend, and so I decided to focus on those.. I started cannon production in these.. and the other 2 (top and center), I just let them defend themselves using ladybugs. The cannons let me easily take over the ant colony in between the 2 beetle colonies. Then I started expanding both up and down from there. I had lost the top beetle colony to the ants, but the center colony was thriving and well protected by the ladybugs by now.. So I started cannon production there too.. I expanded up from there too.. And went after the Northern colonies and re-occupied the top beetle colony too (after killing off incoming waves of attackers etc). The rest was straight-forward. Keep expanding.. not much else to it.

Swarm Assault Level 77 - Ant Warfare

Not a very tough lever... Though I was quite intimidated by the opponents' colonies - 2 spiders and 1 wasp each. But the good thing is there are 2 team (they would later fight each other, giving me a gap), and there's enough distance to, at least initially, use some sentries away from the base colonies to tackle incoming spiders.
When it came to attack, my first plan was to go for one of the wasp colonies.. especially considering there was a point to the exact East of the wasp colony where a bazooka could just stand and safely attack. But this never quite worked out well for me. For one, even though I brought a bunch of bazookas, most of them got killed by the quick wasp turret (the sonics had flown off when I was attacking) before any damage was done and the single safe bazooka was taking quite a long time bringing down the colony health. But the final few bars were taking too long, so I brought in one more group and barely finished off the colony.. brought down some bull ants to collect seeds. But, quickly the colony was brought down by neighboring missiles from both sides. This seemed futile as, by now, half my ant colonies were gone too.. And I was nowhere close to getting a spider colony.

So I decided the right approach had to be one where I exploit the initial flurry of units I will have from my many ant colonies and build up an army big enough to directly attack the spider colony. After couple of tries, I realized that it was cheaper to have a bunch of bull ants in the front of the attack wave (they're produced fast and can be the turret-fodder while attacking). The important thing is to Not end up coming in in a line and to form a wall of attack. I brought the ants from below the bottom-right ant colony towards the spider colony; stopped outside the range of the turrets and led them tangentially around the spider colony and then brought them all in to attack the spider colony - sacrificing the bull ants in favor of minimizing attack on the bazookas (attack wave front pic below). I brought down the colony and had enough surviving bazookas to pick up the seeds and constantly defend against the sonic attacks, giving my spider colony time to heal. In the top, at least 2 of my ant colonies were mine and healthy - they were producing bull ants now to overwhelm with numbers. Greens and Yellows were fighting over the other ant colonies. I produced a sniper with bare minimum health and stopped production to let it heal. The sniper was used to kill off sonics before they had a chance to come to attack; and when free, attack the wasp colony too.. Once the spider health was in the yellows, I produced 2 more snipers before letting it rest again.. The snipers brought down the wasp colony.. Ants and snipers picked up the seeds.. Snipers focused on killing off incoming missile attacks. I started producing missiles of my own.. Brought in the missile in some time took over the other spider colony also.. I let it rest.. Now I had a few missiles around the original spider colony.. I led them up through my ant colonies and started attacking the Yellow spider colony.. I had started assault production also by now.. I picked up the seeds using assaults and bull ants and switched the missiles to attacking the Yellow wasp colony.. And then the other yellow spider colony.. It was all pretty easy from this point on.

Swarm Assault Level 79 - Scorpions vs Beetles

Fairly easy level.. similar to "Level 75 - Beetles vs Ants". We have 2 scorpion colonies. I started producing ninjas in both. For the central colony, I parked the Savage scorpions above and towards the left to fend off any incoming attackers; I was going to focus on the North Eastern colony initially. I took a couple of ninjas to attack the top-right beetle colony - Ninjas vs Beetle colony. Beetle colony turret gun is placed towards the North (top part of the screen) of the colony, and hence has slightly higher range in the 90 degree range from above around the central vertical. Hence, ninjas seem to be able to attack a beetle colony safely in the 270 degree range, all except the top 90 degree range. The unsafe range is - 45 degree to the top-left to 45 degree to the top-right.

If the beetle colony is producing ladybugs, then the ninjas can safely attack, as ninjas can out-range the ladybugs and kill off any within the attacking range. But if the colony is producing cannons, then they would attack the ninjas. So, in such cases, I sent out 3-4 savages after the cannons to distract them while the ninjas killed off the cannons (if possible) and brought down the colony. I let the savages pick up the pieces of the popped colony and led the ninjas to the beetle colony to the top-left of the scorpion colony. I had to bring in more ninjas to finish it off as there were more cannons there. Now, it wasn't so easy to attack any more colonies from the North scorpion colony. So, i took 3-4 ninjas from the center colony, and went on attacking several beetle colonies from below and conquering them. Produced ladybugs from some of the occupied beetle colonies.
From now on, you can mostly overwhelm beetle colonies and their cannons with ninjas and ladybugs.. Or you could produce cannons and take down the beetle colonies from a distance.

Swarm Assault Level 72 - Natural Selection

Not a very tough level.. though I was quite intimidated by this at first.. But then I realized that the only way to proceed was to take over the 3 yellow spider colonies. This is how I went about it.
I produced cannons in the top 3 colonies closest to the spiders. And ladybugs in the bottom 3 colonies closest to the scorpions - so as to delay the progress of the incoming scorpion front while I could focus on acquiring the spider colonies. I placed cannons towards both sides of the land bridge that separates the spider colonies from the rest. And targeted incoming attackers. And I placed one cannon towards the middle of the land bridge just close enough so that it would start attacking the spider colony safely. I let him bring down the colony slowly while killing off attacking spiders. Also, I had switched to ladybug production in at least one of the top colonies to get more units.
Once the closest spider colony collapsed, I brought up all the units ans collected seeds and killed off incoming attackers.. Then the spiders popped it again.. the cycle went on for a bit.. but I preferred to focus on killing rather than occupying. Once I had more units and I noticed that the other spider colonies healths were low enough, I attacked them too.. Finished them all off.. Most of my units died off.. But one of the cannons was in safe zone and finished the job. And I brought in more ladybugs to help collect all seeds and kill off lingering lone-spiders. Now, the scorpions were closing in from the South, but at least I had the 3 spider colonies.. I collected all the lady bugs I had and went down and started a  resistance to the advancing scorpions.. killing them off fast. Then I started producing snipers from the healthy spider colonies. Expanded my boarders.. Kept pushing the boundary South, till I mostly had all the beetle colonies.. I produced ladybugs from healthy beetle colonies.. and had plenty of snipers already produced.. Now, I could just bring down the snipers and ladybugs and storm the scorpions from South-West. One at a time.. I didn't even need missile spiders to finish off all the scorpions.

Swarm Assault Level 67 - Forbidden Planet

This was a highly intimidating level for me. I was reluctant to play it for quite a while. Till now, I was so reliant on spider colonies to win. But now, I was up against 5 Red spider colonies and 2 Red wasp colonies, all with zeros spiders. I had 3 Blue scorpion colonies, 1 beetle colony, and 2 ant colonies that were too close to the enemy gates.
I started ninja production in all 3 scorpion colonies; ladybugs in beetle colony; bull ants in the 2 ant colonies.

Swarm Assault Level 63 - Arena

Not a tough level. Get the right strategy and you win.
You have just the ant colony while your enemies have spider, scorpion and wasp. Manage to salvabe as may troopers as you can in the initial melee.. Pull them a little close to the protection of the base colony.. maybe not too much because they can't attack while walking. Anyway, make sure you've saved both missiles and 1-2 snipers. Keep them safe from attack initially, and then from neutrals (bombers and black ants).
Now, start production on bull ants, you don't need bazookas as enemies and their colonies are too superior for bazookas' range. I remember in my early attempts, I tried attacking the wasp colony and taking it down successfully, but the problem was that by now, the spiders had occupied the scorpion colony and the Reds had become not too powerful. So the right strategy seemed to be to go for the spider colony. When I tried to do it with the 2 missiles, they quickly got killed by the snipers (trying to kill off snipers didn't work as missile attacks are not continuous and by the time the missiles hit them, my missiles were down. So we have wait.. while the ant colony base gets overrun by bull ants fending off black ants. Once there are enough spiders, they'll start marching to the scorpion colony attack. I had by now, marked the missiles by Ctrl+1, so I could quickly select them by pressing 1. So as soon as the spiders moved to attack mode, I moved a bunch of my forces half way to the spider colony; selected the marked missiles using "Press 1" and got the 2 to attack the spider colony. The snipers coming out simply went up to the scorpion colony attack. The spider colony popped; I swarmed in with my forces and occupied it. By now, the snipers were coming back from successfully conquering the scorpion colony; and were getting slaughtered by my forces waiting back home. Now, I used the same missiles (with other forces standing guard) to quickly bring down the low-health scorpion colony. And the rest was too easy.

Swarm Assault Level 61 - Retreat

Pretty easy level. Just do the obvious (of course, you'll lose the 3 blue colonies in the great plains above the equator). Below the equator, start producing missiles, cannons in both beetle colonies, ninjas and bazookas. In the 3 Northern blue colonies that will be lost, produce units to delay the eventual loss - ladybugs, bull ants in one, bazookas in the other. Get the first missile up and start firing on the ant colony above the blue spiders (watch out for neutrals). Get more missiles attacking. Make a few snipers to go up and help bring down enemy units. Wait for the sniper backup to go up and occupy the ant colony. Use the snipers to kill off enemy units and get more missiles attacking teh wasp and spider colonies. Then just keep going. In the mean time, make sure you bring down a bunch of ninjas and cannons to stand guard on the land bridge along the shores of the lake to kill off enemy marchers coming down to the South. You'll be able to keep conquering from the North easily, with backups from the home spider colony, and later from occupied colonies themselves. Even taking down the scorpion colony won't be that difficult (missiles from below). Make sure to have snipers as guards against ninjas and other units attacking the missiles.

Swarm Assault Level 62 - Air Power

Fairly easy. Start production on ladybugs, bazookas and of course, ninjas. As soon as ninjas come out, take them to attack the nearest green ant colony. Keep the ladybugs and bazookas to the top of their colonies to fend off incoming sonics from above. Ant colony may need some backup - bring in some ladybugs to help out. By the time you take over the nearest ant colony, red spiders would've brought down the other 2 green colonies. Push forth with all the ninjas and kill off the Reds. Occupy all the original green colonies (maybe after a little regrouping - get more ninjas to help). Once you have the beetles colony, take 3-4 ninjas up to half way to the scorpion colony and station them there to kill off incoming spider attacks. This would be sufficient protection for our Southern empire. I had also redirected couple of ninjas to protect the ant colony under attack and stopped unit production on that.
Now, get some cannons out, bring them up to the protection of the sentry ninjas. Choose one cannon to go up a little more to the point where it can attack the spider colony safely. If you try with more than one, (from what I've seen) one will end up being in the range of the spider turrets, and die. So take your time conquering the spider colony. Bring in more spare ninjas from below, occupy and protect the spider colony. Now, let it rest a bit, get some snipers out. Take the snipers and some ninjas up to conquer all the 3 wasp colonies - quite easy now.

Swarm Assault Level 66 - Combat Engineering

This was the level winning which made me want to record my game-play, or at least write down the strategies to win. This was extremely frustrating for quite a long time because I could not even think along the lines that would lead to the right strategy.

Spoiler warning - try out the game before reading the right strategy that I found working:

We're the Red team. I had a Spider colony (& 2 scorpion colonies too). Usually, owning a spider colony makes everything so easy. But in this case, I was putting all my time and effort into desperately defending the spider colony from the yellow scorpions and the blue wasps. The usual strategy of leaving a bunch of snipers to defend was not prossible because the spider colony was opening right into the mouth of the yellow scorpions and the snipers were getting bleeding health too fast.. And I needed missiles towatds the sides of the colony to even keep up with the spear gun scorpions who stood just outside the reach of spider colony turrets.. And the incoming sonics made things worse. I wasted my time on this defense and my other scorpion colonies were now bleeding health. I knew spiders were key and without missiles, conquering any scorpion colony would be very difficult. So I could not think outside the box of keeping the spider colony. This was the wrong strategy.. I could not attack the scorpion colony - scorpion colonies are the most resilient and have the longest base defense - equal to the reange of missile spiders, but only in the Northern horizon. Missiles can safely attack scorpion colony from below (180 degree range of attack below the horizontal like through the center of the scorpion colony). So I tried pulling couple of missiles left and down to find a spot, but because of the bay of water, there was no spot where missiles could safely stand and attack the scorpion colony. The only place left was on the land bridge leading to the blue wasp colony, but this meant a pretty long walk through the range of attack of the scorpion colony, which wan't survivable.
This brought me to my second strategy - try and conquer the scorpion colony from the bottom-right. To make this journey, my missiles would have to take down the blue and yellow ant colonies (would take time) and by the time the missiles reached the home base of the Southern red scorpion colony, the home spider colony would usually pop... unless I actively work hard to protect it, still it would be very low in health - but in this case, my missiles may go astray. But somehow, I pulled it through once and brought down the scorpion colony, and I managed to collect the seeds of the spider colony which had just popped. But now, I had 2 very fragile colonies and very few resources to successfully defend them, and they were under constant attack. And I lost.

Trying this strategy again, I brought the missiles to the Southern base scorpion colony. Then I realized that maybe I should just attack and conquer the blue spider colony which was pausing some threat to my scorpion colony as it was below the horizon of the scorpion colony and missiles could attack. This turned out to be the right strategy:
So start producing ninjas and missiles and bazookas. Keep the missiles safe from incoming scorpion turret attacks. But keep them on the sides to defend the spider colony... until you have 5-6 missiles. Then forget about the spider colony, go right and bring down the blue ant colony (let our ninjas from pick up the seeds)..  then bring down the yellow ant colony (again, let our ninjas from pick up the seeds). Let the missiles bring down the blue spider colony (ninjas can stand guard). Now, just go up from there, take over the 3 wasp colonies with ninjas and missiles... and then the yellow ant and beetle colonies on top. Interestingly, my red ant colony stayed healthy and defended itself with no supervision till now. Now, I didn't have enough missiles to easily bring down the now yellow (originally blue) wasp colony and the yellow spider colony. So, instead I started on expanding from below (had already started producing missiles from the spider colony (bottom-right) I'd conquered. I took the missiles and brought down the yellow scorpion colony from below and then conquered the disputed original spider colony (was under constant attack and mostly down). Then I took the ninjas and scorpions up and took over the wasps, and the yellow spider colony. Then I let some ninjas go and occupy the bottom-left blue wasp colony.

Swarm Assault Level 59 - Vertical Islands

This is not a tough level. You just have a scorpion colony. Start ninja production. Protect the ninjas from neutrals. Once you have 2-3 ninjas, bring them down to the neutral wasp colony. Few steps at a time. Wait for any neutrals to show up and kill them. Walk them through the exact middle so as to avoid spider colony turrets. Once you're near the wasp colony, move all but one ninja a little high because if you attack with multiple ninjas all but one will take unsafe attack points and will die. Also, you need at least 1 other ninja to protect the attacking ninja from emerging neutrals - this is vital. Let one ninja attack the wasp colony safely. Keep the other ninjas in the safe zone, and protecting the attacker. Once the colony is down, kill off emerging neutrals, conquer it.

Protect the wasp colony using the ninjas. Post them just above the wasp colony. Keep an eye on the scorpion colony in the mini-map. Before either Green or Red spiders start approaching from nearby islands, post the ninjas on either side of the home island to kill them off... They may still need a little manual oversight to kill off missiles.

Start producing assaults and couple of paralyzers. Take 2-3 assaults and go left and attack the neutral wasp colony. There is one spot where the assault wasp can safely attack a wasp colony (towards the right of the colony). One wasp will stay alive and continue attacking. The home wasp colony may face attacks from spiders - watch out and take down attackers using assaults of ninjas. Once the neutral colony is down, bring in some assaults and paralyzers to occupy and protect it from intruders and neutrals from the North. Now, start sonic production on both wasp colonies. Wait for build up, watch out for attacks on coloneis, protect units. Once you have enough sonics, go and take down the Green spider colony. You may take over the adjacent beetle and ant colonies too (thought the ant colony may be lost soon to the forces from the North - scorpion colony).
Next colony to take down will be the right wasp colony. You'll need sonics for this. Use sonics again, to take down the Red spiders. Eventually, you'll be using missiles from the spider colonies to take down the scorpions safely.

Swarm Assault Level 55 - River Cruise

Easy level once you get 1 thing right. Get a cannon in the right position to safely attack the spider colony (when no missiles/snipers are looking; this is usually easy because they go up for attack). It  will take time, but the spider colony will be brought down. Get the ants to pick up the seeds. Go up and conquer the scorpions with the missiles easily. Go up and take the wasps. Produce some sonics and paralyzers. In my case the top-right wasp colony was being taken over at this moment. So, I found it easy to just go there with the couple of wasps I had and kill off collectors. Then I blew up the colony again.. brought up back-up.. ended up occupying it easily. Fend off any incoming attacks with some assaults and paralyzers (good team up). Produce more sonics.. Take over the beetles. Then the spiders (with lots more sonics)... so on.

Swarm Assault Level 53 - Morning Melee

Fairly easy game; you already have a spider colony that is safe from constant attack.
Your (green) beetle colony on the left and the ant colony on the bottom right will be soon lost to the Blue team, so don't bother. Start production on missiles, and in the top-right (very safe) beetle colony, start cannons. Get a cannon to attack the top-right yellow wasp colony; and a missile to take down the blue wasp colony. After you have couple of missiles, make some snipers for spider colony defense. Redirect new cannons to the land-bridge that separates the beetle colony from the top-left hostile territory (yellow ants will soon be taken by the blue spiders). The cannons in the bridge will fend off incoming attackers safely. Take some spiders and go down and take over the 2 small colonies immediately avaiable (and and beetle. Start production on wasps. Get more missiles to attack the blue spider colony at the bottom-right. And from here on, just keep conquering everything in the clockwise order.

Swarm Assault Level 52 - The Web

Not a tough level. The key here is to not keep control of a majority of beetle units. I had to restart a couple of times to get this.
I tried producing all cannons (pairing cannons with paralyzers to protect colonies), but this became unmanageable (cannons are too few and would need constant supervision for this to work, which is not possible due to the number of colonies). Instead, finally, I went with a mix of cannons and lady bugs - lady bugs in 5 colonies, and cannons in 3 adjacent ones. And of course, sonics in the center. Once I have enough sonics, I moved in with the sonics and cannons and conquered a spider colony. Then waited for more sonics and cannons to arrive, went for the adjacent spider colony.. By now, the almost all other colony were overrun by my lady bugs are were pretty safe.. Now, it was just a matter of missile production and conquering the rest with missiles and sonics.

Swarm Assault Level 51 - Double Trouble

This can be a very easy level if you use the right strategy... Though initially, I didn't know this and struggled a lot keeping up with the onslaught of ant attacks. The key is the 4 sniper spiders you're born with. Start ninja production (ninjas will protect the colony on their own for very long); mark the snipers as a unit and march them down to the right of the 4 ant-unit square and safely and quickly take down the top-right and bottom-right ant colonies.. kill off the few ants that are around.. keep attacking the left ant colonies too.. Easily, the snipers will take over the 4 ant colonies in no time. The base scorpion colony by this time was still in the greens (healthy).. Take the snipers back home, escort couple of ninjas and go forth and attack the North 4 ant colonies. Will be done quickly with little effort.
I suppose this is a level that gets worse the longer you take.. quickly finish off before they overwhelm with numbers.

Swarm Assault Level 50 - The Long March

Pretty amusing level. The goal is to use all the other pieces to keep the missile spider alive long enough to march to the neutral colony and to occupy it. It's vital to mark the 2 long-rangers - missile and cannon - as 1 (select the 2, Ctrl + 1). Now by pressing 1, you can choose these 2 alone.. Keep moving all forward. The short-rangers are to protect against any newly emerging threats. Press 1 and set target for the long rangers to clear the path forward. You'll lose the sort-rangers progressively on the way. Watch out for dragonflies in the mini-map also..

Swarm Assault Level 49 - Swamp War

Failry easy level. Start producing ninjas, bazookas and paralyzers. Choose paralyzers only for the wasp colony because we're going to focus on the action around our (Yellow) scorpion colony. Assault wasps will go around and get killed if not supervised. And don't worry about paralyzers not being able to kill scorpions who can shoot out of range of the colony turrents.. They'll stay around the colony mostly, and the seedball plants will take care of killing enemies slowly (they grow wild in the swamps).
Now, the attack. Get a ninja to take over the top-right Red ant colony. Then go for the top Red wasp colony too.. Get couple of bazookas for muscle..
Kill off spiders collecting the now destroyed yellow ant colony closest to the spiders. Let the ninjas finish off the spiders, but don't bother with occupying the colony.. just take it down as soon as it heals.. This area can end up being full of plants making it impossible for spiders to cross over.. But not a necessary deal. Start production on sonics in the newly conquered wasp colony. Once you have enough wasps and scorpions, convene to the mid-right of the screen and sneak behind the spider colony and finish it off.. The rest is so easy.

Swarm Assault Level 48 - Footprints

Easy level. You have 1 scorpion colony (and enemy has no spiders) - good enough.. Obviously, you just keep producing ninjas. Take the first ninja, go up and take over the enemy beetles colony.. Direct then 2nd one also to assist. Kill the cannons who were destroying the neutral ant colony and take over that too.. Leave the ninjas to collect the seeds. Take another ninja and collect the seeds of then neutral wasp colony below (by now destroyed by Blue forces from below).. kill off blue scrappers.. Go down and take over the blue beetles.. Post couple of sentry ninjas at the bottleneck to kill off incoming scorpions. Now you have the right side conquered so easily.
The ninjas at the top can't just go over to the top-left beetle colony and attack without getting fired on (due to positioning of the beetles colony turret). So produce couple of cannons from the conquered colony and use them (and some ants to guard from neutrals) to take over the top-left beetle colony. By now, I would be having good number of wasps (specially sonics). I'll take some wasps and a bunch of ninjas and cross over from the wasp site and conquer the enemy wasp colony. I thought I'd bring down some cannons to attack the spider colony from the safe point, but the wasps and ninjas were enough to overwhelm and take over the spider colony.
Now, the scorpion colony could also probably be overwhelmed and taken down by brute force from above.. But I chose to produce couple of missile spiders, bring them around though the right and attack the scorpion colony from below (where missiles can attack safely out of reach of colony turrets).

Swarm Assault Level 46 - Primary Colours

Fairly easy level - just factor in very frequent Desert Fly attacks (dropping deadly bombs).. You're prone to losing existing and newly acquired colonies. So don't go in for the attack on the greens too early. The Reds will dominate. They have the bottleneck advantage (positioning) (though greens have spiders, reds have scorpions, not as useful but also 2 wasp colonies instead of beetles).
Start producing bazookas, cannons and a mix of wasp species. Take couple of assault wasps and cannonts and take over the Green Beetles colony right above the Blue Beetles colony. You may lose it to attack, but focus on building inventory and maybe killing off some enemies, but bid your time. Let the Reds weaken the Greens. They will take over a Green Beetles colony and weaken the spider colony. Always watch out for your wasps.. Move them around so they don't go following the Flies. Once the Reds bring down the spider colony, fight hard to gain control.. Withe 2-3 blow-up fights you should be able to take control of the Spider colony and the beetles colony below it.. After this, build some health, get some snipers out.. kill off incoming attacks.. take down the Reds.

Swarm Assault Level 42 - Brief Battle

Fairly easy.. You have scorpions, wasps and 2 ant colonies, one of which will be at the mercy of the yellow scorpions.. Start production on Ninjas, they're the key.. and maybe stick with paralyzers for the wasp colony.. top right ant colony can produce bazookas.. The 2 green spider colonies are innocuours.. they just produce black widows (so no worries).. Get the ninja to take down the green ant colony.. bring down some bazookas to expand the border.. Do some killing near the bottom ant colony.. Get several ninjas ready and take down the yellow waps (their sonics were the most annoying).. The green beetles are not much of a threat.. Breed some sonics now.. and when you have enough wasps and ninjas, go after the yellow scorpion colony..

Swarm Assault Level 38 - They're Everywhere

It's fairly easy (you already have spiders and wasp; the beetle colony won't be of much use up there).. Start producing missile spiders; go to wasp colony and make assaults (post 1-2 paralyzers behind the colony to stun incoming attack from spiders).. Take a few assaults and take over the Green beetle colony right above (assaults can safely do this without dying). By now, the missiles will have popped the yellow ant colony.. you need not assert conrol in the ensuing mayhem.. do some damage.. bide your time and get few more missiles, come down and attack the green spider colony.. I forgot, you'll need to keep an eye on the Red spider colony above.. use couple of missiles to kill off their missile attack etc. Once you have the green spider colony, then it's pretty straightforward..

Swarm Assault Level 34 - A Day In The Field

This is a medium level.. The yellows have the scorpion colony, and they will start attacking the neutral spider colony. I tried several times to make a go for the neutral spider colony early itself, but always lost.. So I had to take the longer approach:
Start producing cannons obviously. Take over the wasp North-most wasp & beetle colonies. Start production on assault wasps once the wasp colony health is in the Greens. Now, the important thing is to bid your time and let the battle between Yellows (who by now will have a spider colony) and the Reds play out.. Yellows will be leading and the Red spider colony will be in medium to low health.
But in order to survive till here, you must deploy sentries protecting base colonies on top.. Post bunch of cannons below the North colony line (E.g., in the "Green" lands etc) to kill off attacking missile spiders and scorpions etc.
Once you have enough wasps and cannons, take a bunch of them and go down and take over the Red spider colony (at an appropriate time.. maybe close in using some cannons on the damaged colonies.. kill of enemies when they collect seeds etc).

EDIT (after I got much better at this game):
I produced 2-3 more cannons while starting the attack on the neutral wasp colony with the existing cannons, and then permanently switched to ladybug production (having realized the high utility of ladybugs - they're very fast to produce, quite agile, highly damaging and quick-acting at short enough range; cannons, on the other hand, are very slow to produce, very sluggish, just as fragile, the only advantage is range, which is useful in the beginning, later it's the numbers that matter).
Once the wasp colony was taken, I moved the cannons to take the neutral beetle colony to the top-right; moved more ladybugs to below the healing wasp colony and then, the newly colonized beetle colony, which the red spiders had started attacking.. From this moment on, I bid my time, easily posting ladybug sentries below my 3 colonies and watching out for invaders in the full map. Started production on assaults (later, ladybugs from the right beetle colony). I didn't even have to wait for the spider colony to be low on health; I had so many ladybugs that along with the wasps, I could easily blow up the contested (between Reds & Yellows) beetle colony at the bottom and then bring down and occupy the Red spider colony. Then, I moved my attack to the left, bringing in swarms of ladybugs from the 2 beetle colonies on top.. The top left colony had enough ladybugs near it to easily take down the yellow spider colony and with some wasps, the yellow scorpion colony. I never had to start production on the spider colony.

Swarm Assault Level 20 - Yummy

My First Attempt Impressions:
This is a pretty hard level. I was very frustrated by it.. but it's winnable. Things to remember..
  • Paralyzers are very useful in disarming attacking forces..
  • Assault wasp can, when correctly positioned attack ant colony without being fire upon (in the direction of one turret and not in the perpendicular bisector of the 2 turrets).
  • Similarly, there is a point where the cannon can safely attack a spider colony (in the perpendicular bisector of the 2 spider-colony-turrents).
  • You can attack a beetle colony when it is busy handling some neutral growth (lolly, popcorn plant etc) and avoid getting attacked yourself.
  • Your win may depend on chance events like how the 2 enemy colonies are panning out.. If one color ends up dominating too early, then you may not stand much chance, and may have to restart (that's what I think).
 My Refined Attempt Impressions:
When I played this again after playing more advanced levels till 80, it wasn't that hard. The full approach was: I gave up on the beetles colony as it was in the hot zone, surrounded by 3 spider colonies - 2 of Blue and 1 or Red. But I wanted to make the most of it, so produced a cannon and positioned it to attack the Blue spider colony closest to my Wasp colony.. this got killed soon by a sniper, but I tried. Meanwhile, I had produced couple of paralyzes, several assaults and few sonics.. used them to protect the colony (tried to keep the short-ranged sonics out of it though).. Also, I had one of my assaults go and safely attack the blue ant colony to the far West. It acquired it and stood guard.
Once I had enough number of wasps (4-5 sonics at least, unless the spider colony health was low enough, and many assaults, so that turrets won't finish off the sonics soon and they can bring down the colony), I barely finished off the spider colony.. 2 wasps survived.. after couple more pop-ups, I had enough assaults to defend and let the spider colony heal. I had started bull ant production and simply brought down many ants to just stand around. Started producing snipers and later missiles.. Took the snipers and started conquering the smaller colonies including the Red beetles next door to the home wasps.. then the small ant colonies.. and went all around until the next one was spider colony.. By now, I had enough missiles.. used them to take over the spider colonies too..

Swarm Assault Level 21 - North And South

Here, the enemy has 2 spider colonies, but no worries.. we have one too..

My first approach:
Start by producing hightest ranks from all the colonies - Bazookas for ants, cannons for beetles, and missiles for the spider colony. Try to save as many ants as you can from the one above enemy spider colony. Bring down the missiles to the ant colony which would be under assault from spiders.. When it bursts, try to finish off the attacking spiders with the missiles and whatever ants were produced. Once you've killed off all the attacking spiders (by now, you'd be having several missile spiders), spare 1-2 to attack the red spider colony.. Others would be killing the attackers to the unoccupied ant colony. Once the first enemy spider colony pops, move over to there, start collecting seeds, but focus more on damaging enemy troops; when it regenerates as enemy colony, you can immediately pop it again.. Start collecting the seeds now, and also attacking the second spider colony.. You can bring down more missiles from the New York factory by now.. You'd be able to pop the 2nd spider colony also.. After this, there's no stopping us..

My more refined approach (with more experience):
In my second round of playing all the levels, I had a far easier time with this level. I knew my focus would be around the spider colonies.. So, this time I ordered bull ants in all the ant colonies.. this resulted in a much higher colony retention as they bred so fast. The beetle colonies were producing cannons as they were both sufficiently away from the enemies. And for the spider colony, I went with a mix of missiles and snipers.. Snipers are more efficient at killing off enemies.. but we need the missiles for colony attack. The rest of the approach was pretty similar.. take over the spider colonies.. then you've pretty much won.

Swarm Assault Level 13 - Coastal Battle

Just breed several sonics; use the existing wasps to defend while the sonics are brewing.. Use the sonics to take over the spider colony (it might already by low on health from bomber attacks).. The rest is so breezy.

Tips

  • Paralyzers are very useful in disarming attacking forces..
  • Assault wasp can, when correctly positioned attack ant colony without being fire upon (in the direction of one turret and not in the perpendicular bisector of the 2 turrets).
  • Similarly, there is a point where the cannon can safely attack a spider colony (in the perpendicular bisector of the 2 spider-colony-turrents).
  • Now, on the use of ninjas in colony attacks.
    •  Ninjas vs Ant colony. Individual ninjas seem to be able to attack ant colonies safely from any angle. But at times, when attacked with multiple ninjas, some seem to get in shooting range of the colony turrets and get killed.. but mostly ninjas can safely attack ant colony fro any angle.
    • Ninjas vs Beetle colony.
    • Ninjas vs Wasp colony. Somewhat similar to the situation with the beetle colony.. except, for the wasp colony, the turret gun is closest to the North-West (not North like the beetles), hence the safe zone is not vertically symmetrical. For sure, the whole Southern horizon (180 degree range below the center of the wasp colony) is safe to attack for the ninja. An attack from the exact vertically above position (to the exact North of the wasp colony) is a safe spot; but a spot to the left or right is unsafe - this was a bit surprising to me. There seem to be some safe spots to the North-East, but I usually try to stay below the equator if possible, while attacking.
  • You can attack a beetle colony with short ranged units when it is busy handling some neutral growth (thornbush, popcorn plant etc) and avoid getting attacked yourself (useful in some situations).
  • In some hard levels, your victory  may depend on chance events like how the 2 enemy colonies are panning out.. If one color ends up dominating too early, then you may not stand much chance, and may have to restart (that's what I think).
  • Scorpion colonies are the most resilient and have the longest base defense - equal to the reange of missile spiders, but only in the Northern horizon. Missiles can safely attack scorpion colony from below (180 degree range of attack below the horizontal like through the center of the scorpion colony).
  •  Seed balls spread quickly if left unchecked.. relevant where long journeys have to be made in swamp terrain. Similarly, thorn bushes spread a lot in the desert landscape. Kill them off early if possible... unless you want these obstacles to protect from enemies.

Swarm Assault Level 80 - Cryptography

Other Tips sources

080) Cryptography

This is a pretty hard level and requires some patience to get through. You don't have any colony, and there are 2 enemies - both possessing a wasp and a spider colony.

The game play comprises 2 steps, and it may take many attempts to get the 2nd step right.
  1. Salvage as many Sonic wasps in the initial bout. I found it effective to assemble
  2. Wait for the opportune moment to swoop in and take over the Blue Wasp colony. Defend the colony vehemently and bring its health up to the high yellows or greens.
  3. Now, just take over the blue spider colony, then the yellow side. This is a can't-miss, once you've managed step 2.
I have tried a alternatives to step 1, like go right into attacking a colony. But this won't work.. The wasp colonies are often taken down by the enemy colonies themselves.. and fighting over the colony seeds there may get you a colony for a moment, but you won't be able to hold (wasp colonies are in the middle). So I tried attacking one of the spider colonies.. syncing the attack from all my sonics.. However, almost all of them got killed and when the colony exploded, the enemy wasps killed off my remaining wasp (with little health) and regained the colony. Hence the 1st step - salvage as many sonics as you can and wait.. tediously protecting them against neutrals (ants, bombers, lollies). Screen-selecting all and bringing them all to one location wasn't very successful.. Most got killed in the long journey to a single point. Instead, I found it most convenient to gather them in 2 assembly points - one in the North and one in the South. Give each small group a point to gather that is away from enemy sonics. Do this quickly for each sonic you can salvage.. Then slowly move them all to points above and below the Blue wasp colony (number 1 in the north & 8 in the south). This is because in most attempts I've made, Yellow side is somehow slightly stronger than the Blue side.. So it's smarter to wait closest the blue wasp colony, but maintain enough distance to not be attacked. Kill any lollies or neutral ants in the number island (1 or 8) you've parked your precious few Sonic units. I had to try this waiting stage many times before winning. Once I got used to it, I would typically salvage 5-6 sonics in the South and 3-4 in the North.

Now, the 2nd stage. This can play out in many ways depending on the units produced by both enemy sides, usually, Yellows dominate, hence our positioning.. Sometimes Yellows totally dominate and take over the blue side, and I will have to restart. Ideally, you don't want Missile spiders in the picture. They're too hard to defend against once you've acquired a wasp colony. Wait for a colony attack from the yellow side which leads to blue wasp colony explosion as well as depletion of most yellow forces. Swoop in from North and South simultaneously.. prioritize killing enemy units nearby over collecting seeds.. You may blow up the colony once again to take control. But all this may work only if there aren't many yellow wasps (or missiles) left on the West side. Otherwise, you won't be able to defend the colony. Now, it's a matter of defending the colony with whatever wasps you have left (too few, and it won't work). You may need at least 2-3 sonics left alive to defend. Once the colony health has risen a little (still in Red), produce just one paralysis wasp (helps a long way), and continue killing incoming attackers from both sides.. Make sure not to wander within firing range of the spider colony; and watch out for large-scale attacks from the Yellow Assault wasps.. If many yellows start flocking to your colony, go closer and start killing them sooner to minimize colony damage. Once the health level reaches yellow (or you've run out of original sonics), do produce 1-2 assault wasps.. Now, you're at a pretty good stage. Just let the health reach high yellows and produce more assaults and 1-2 more Paralysis wasps.. Actively fend off intruders, raise colony health.. Once you have 5-10 assault wasps, switch to sonics. Accumulate sonics for some time, and when there aren't any imminent yellow attacks, let the sonics go and take over the spider colony. Now you can simply bring all wasps to the yellow side and fend off attackers from just that side. The game is almost won. Now you reap the benefits of all this error.. Let the spider colony gain some health.. get some snipers out and bring them up to the wasp colony. I had to use the snipers to kill off many yellow paralysis wasps that were accumulating near their wasp colony. I didn't even need the missile spiders to take over the yellow wasp colony. And then it's a cakewalk to finish off their spider colony.

Overall, it may take a lot of attempts to win - because of the need for the right circumstances to arise for a successful take-over. I had almost given up after my semi-successful take-over ended with yellow forces overwhelming and exploding my colony after I had defended it enough to produce couple of wasps from it.
